2. It marked the 2nd and final time the USA and Great Britain would commit to a war against themselves.
3. Established Manifest Destiny in the Western part of the USA.
4. Proved that the USA was willing and capable of standing on it's own after the war for Independence some 40 years before. I guess you could say it was the dropping of our balls, going from a preteen to a teenager, and eventually by the time WW2 rolled around a full adult. Massive industrial capacity that would be greater than GB, Germany, even Russia.
