Four students measured the volume of a liquid. Their results were 23.10 mL, 23.11 mL, 23.12 mL, and 23.13 mL. Which place value represents the uncertainty in their measurements?
Welcome to OpenStudy. Well, which number differs in the 3 readings?
tens place?
wait ones place i think
tenths place is the .1, which is the same in all of them. Think of it like usually the last digit is the one that is estimated= it isnt certain. its also the one that differs. its 1, 2, and 3
oh and 0
Take 23.11 for example. 2 is in tenths, 3 in ones, 1 is in 1/10ths and the last 1 is in 1/100ths
oh ok thank you!, so it's ones place since it's .11
Oh. Did I get the names wrong?
I'm not sure lol
Scratch what I said. Look at this http://www.mathatube.com/images/place-value-chart.gif and see which one is different in all 3 of those readings.
thank you very much! it help a lot so its the hundredths place the change.
yes, its the hundredths place
Thank you!
