Why did Francis Cabot Lowell open a textile mill?

Francis Cabot Lowell helped launch the factory system in America. He visited textile mills in Europe to gather information and brought that information back to the United States and expanded on Samuel Slater's mill. He also created the factory system which saved on production time, cost, and increased efficiency by putting all stages of making cloth under one roof. He had to borrow $400,000 in order to do this. He didn't open a mill, he expanded a mill. Why? Because of what I said previously. It saved on production time, cost, and increased efficiency by putting all stages of making cloth under one roof. Hope this helped. :)
