"The giant water reed," is the appositive. An appositive is a noun or noun phrase that renames another noun right beside it. Here is another example: The insect, a large wingspanroach with hairy legs, is crawling across the kitchen table. The phrase "a large wingspanroach with hairy legs," renames the word "insect." jsut be sure to put it in the right category next time XD
