An organism has 12 chromosomes in its sex cells. It undergoes a process producing four daughter cells, each with 6 chromosomes. What is this process?

This is meiosis--remember, in meiosis, the number of chromosomes in each daughter cell is half that of the parent cell- in this case 12 in the parent and 6 in the daughter. In MITOSIS, the number of chromosomes is the same for daughter and parent.
