Please help! Will give a medal! How do I tell how many common differences are in a sequence?? I have to find the missing term of the sequence, and I know in order to do that I have to know how many common differences there are. arithmetic sequence: 2.2, ________, 6,...

Like this for example. Its from my Alg2 book, and it says there are 3 common differences between 100 and 82. How did they get that???

OpenStudy (***[isuru]***):

it depends... if u only know those 2 values.... u can insert as many as terms creating many common differences ...

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Well I only need to know the missing term. I was reading my book while trying to do the problem, and I think I understand how but I need to know how many common diffs there are so I can put that into the formula I need to use..

OpenStudy (***[isuru]***):

but in ur example they ask "what r the second and third terms .... " |dw:1391720613830:dw|
