3x-5y=-33 16x+y=-51

OpenStudy (anonymous):

you can subtract 16x from that side to bring it to the other so that it's y=-16x-51 then you can plug that into the other equation so it's: 3x+ -5(16x+ -51) = -33 can you get it from there?

\[\:y=\frac{375}{83},\:x=-\frac{288}{83}\]

i think that answer was almost right 3x + -80x + 255 = -33 3x + -80x = -33 - 255 -77x = -288 -288/-77 = x x = 3.703 or 288/77
