What might happen if commas didn't exist?

Well the reason why im asking is because I have to write a 2 to 3 paragraph "journal entry" on what would happen if commas didn't exist.. I also have to put some hyperboles in it...

Well, if commas didn't exist... Certain phrases would seem improper and awkward. But If commas didn't exist, I'm sure we'd have an equal for it that would be named different and perhaps look different.
