The equation of line CD is y = −2x − 2. Write an equation of a line parallel to line CD in slope-intercept form that contains point (4, 5). y = −2x + 13 y = -1/2x + 7 y = 1/2x + 3 y = − 2x − 3 which one?

and could you also explain how you go the answer?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

parallel to the line means your new equation must have the same slope as the line CD so it will be y= -2x+b now fill in the given point (4,5) into this new equation, since the new line must contain these points. 5= -2(4)+b -3=b y=-2x-3, so its the last one

thank you for the explanation! i finally understand this now! ^_^
