The internet has advantages in ability to cover the entirety of something due to the effectively unlimited nature to the space involved. The down side of the internet is the sourcing issues.

A thesaurus deals with similar terms, not really definitions.

An almanac deals with annual events, like the sunrise and sunset, planting times, etc.

The older an event is, the more likely that what is in an encyclopedia will be accurate and complete.
