Hmm, not convinced that goal is realistic, depending on how close to the limit of his abilities he already is when running 3 miles in 35 minutes. That's nearly a 12 minute/mile pace, and he's got to average 10 minutes/mile pace to cover 6 miles in an hour. If he just started training, not unreasonable to expect he might be able to do it. If he's been running for months, the race is next week, and that's the best he can do over the much shorter distance, it's unlikely he can do it.
