Does anybody go to Connexus and take Geometry B in 10th Grade?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Plots of land between two roads are laid out according to the boundaries shown. The boundaries between the two roads are parallel. What is the length of Plot 3 along Cheshire road?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@amistre64

OpenStudy (amistre64):

the only way this makes sense to me is if all the plots are "similar"

OpenStudy (amistre64):

if they are similar, then we can conclude that 48n = 56 40n = length desired

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Okay so should I just say they are similar. The answer choices are A. 46 2/3 yards B. 67 1/5 yards C. 66 yards D. 37 1/3 yards @amistre64

OpenStudy (amistre64):

we can gather from the information, that they are similar. As such, they have a similar ratio. 48 scales to 56, and 40 scales to (something) as such, we can find the scalar to multiply by. 48n = 56; therefor 40n=(something) find n to solve for the (something) we want to know

OpenStudy (anonymous):

How do I find n?

OpenStudy (amistre64):

48n = 56, is a simple algebra process ....

OpenStudy (amistre64):

48, times 'what', is equal to 56?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

1.16

OpenStudy (amistre64):

close enough :) so, 40(1.16) will get us close enough to what the answer is as well

OpenStudy (anonymous):

46.4

OpenStudy (amistre64):

then what we want for an answer will be 46, and a little bit ....

OpenStudy (anonymous):

So, A?

OpenStudy (amistre64):

A seems good to me yes

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Can you help me with one more question?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I need to find the geometric mean of 275 and 11.

OpenStudy (amistre64):

what is 275*11?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

3025

OpenStudy (amistre64):

to find the GEO mean, we then take the sqrt of it what is the sqrt of 3025?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

55

OpenStudy (amistre64):

then 55 it is

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Thank you so much :)

OpenStudy (amistre64):

youre welcome
