Hello @xCamilaCabellox : It seems that I cannot access the link because you have to log-in. Can you type or make a screen shot of your actual question? Though, I am thinking that you want to make all of these Spanish sentences, correct?
Yes, I need to write a paragraph using the information about me, and an adult. I will try and type the contents of the link for you to see.
03.07 Family Likes and Dislikes 03.07 Family Likes and Dislikes Writing Assignment Instructions: Write a paragraph describing yourself and an adult. Use the verbs gustar, tener, ser, and estar in your paragraph. Include the following information in your paragraph: Items to include in your paragraph What words might you need to use? Tips to Help Your name and age and the adult’s name and age. Ser Tener Numbers You can use ser to say your names (I am__). Use the yo form for yourself and the él or ella form for the adult. Remember to use tener when telling someone’s age. Provide two descriptions of yourself and two descriptions of the adult. Ser Adjectives (lesson 01.08 and 03.02) Remember that ser is used for physical descriptions. Use the yo form for yourself and the él or ella form for the adult. Tell how you are feeling and how the adult is feeling. Estar Emotions (lesson 03.02) Remember that estar is used for temporary conditions (how you feel). Use the yo form for yourself and the él or ella form for the adult. State something you like and something the adult likes. Gustar You’ll use gusta if what you like is singular and gustan for plural. Remember: we don’t use yo, él, or ella with this verb. Instead, you’ll use me and le. State the profession of the adult. Ser Profession (lesson 03.06) Remember that ser is used when talking about occupations. Use the él or ella form of the verb. Remember that we don’t use "un" or "una" when telling someone’s profession. Ex: Ella es abogada.
Okay. Thanks. c:
This is everything the assignment gave me. However some parts of it, were on a chart so sorry if it is confusing:/
Whoops! I was just looking over what I had typed for my responses to the questions about me.. seems I have misspelled a word: I meant nadar not nadir for 'to swim'
Okay. Now I have the information. Me- My name is... I am fifteen years old. I am tall and I am calm*. I am feeling tired**. I like to swim. Adult- The adult is forty-seven years old. He/she is shy and pretty. He/she is feeling overwhelmed. He/she likes dark chocolate. He/she works as a nanny. *I think it should a better translation of "transquilo" is calm, not quiet, just saying. **I'm not sure if it was a typo, but "tired" is "cansado", not "casado". c; Anyways, I want you to try your very, very best to translate this into Spanish yourself. Then I want you to post it here and I will make any corrections if needed. I am going to put you the verb conjugations of gustar, tener, ser, and estar so it could be easier.:}
Thank you so much! I think calm would describe me better anyhow. And yes, it was a typo sorry bout that. I'll translate it now.. brb!
Do you still need the conjugations?
yes! but i'll translate it first:)
Okay, so I changed it a little, to try and make it flow better, so here it is: Hola! Me llamo Camila. Soy quince anos. Soy alto y tranquilo. Me siento cansado. Me gusta nadar mucho. El adulto es de cuarenta y siete anos. Ella es timida y bonita, pero ella se siente abrumado. A ella le gusta el chocolate negro. Y trabaja como ninera. I can't use accents with the computer I am using, or at least haven't figured out how yet. And the adult is female, hence the "ella". If I have misspelled anything it is probably just typos, cause I usually know how to spell the verbs and everything:)
Okay. Tener - To have - ER VERB - [indicative] Present Tense (yo) tengo - (I) have (tú) tienes - (you(informal*)) have (él/ella) tiene - (he/she) has (usted) tiene - (you (formal**)) (nosotros) tenemos - (we) have (ellos) tienen - (they) have (ustedes) tienen - (you all) have ESTAR - (AR Verb) - To be - [indicative] Present Tense (yo) estoy - (I) am (tú) estás - (you (informal*)) are (él/ella) está - (he/she) is (usted) está - (you (formal**)) (nosotros) estamos - (we) are (ellos) están - (they) are (ustedes) están - (you all) are SER - (ER Verb) - To be - [indicative] present tense (yo) soy - (I) am (tú) eres - (you (informal*)) are (él/ella) es - (he/she) is (usted) es - (you (formal**)) are (nosotros) somos - (we) are (ellos) son - (they) are (ustedes) son - (you all) are Formal v. Informal: *Informal - If you are under eighteen, you use the informal version of "you" (tu), when you are speaking to someone younger than you. If you are over eighteen, you use the informal version of "you" when you are speaking to anyone under eighteen. **Formal - If you are under eighteen, you use the formal version of "you" (usted), when you are speaking to anyone older than you. If you are over eighteen, you user the formal version of "you" to anyone who is also over eighteen. THE CONFUSION (between ser and estar) Ser is used when you are explaining someone's characteristics. For example, "Yo soy serio" = "I am serious." It is also used to show where you are from, for example, "Yo soy de EE.UU." - "I am from U.S.A." ESTAR is used when you are explaining how someone is feeling. For example, "Usted esta enfermo" - "You are sick." It is also used to explain where someone is at. For example, "Ella esta en el supermercado" - "She is in the suprmarket.
Okay, Camila, let's revise your paragraphs. :)
I'm not sure where this leaves me though, because I still have trouble conjugating.
@kewlgeek555 im not giving up an you but I'm just tagging @esshotwired for a second opinion :)
Hola! Me llamo Camila. Soy* quince anos. Soy alto** y tranquilo**. Me siento cansado. Me gusta nadar mucho. El adulto*** es de**** cuarenta y siete anos. Ella es timida y bonita, pero ella se siente abrumado**. A ella le gusta el chocolate negro. Y trabaja como ninera. *It is not "Soy quince años", it is "Tengo". Let's put it this way..."soy" = "i am" and "tengo" = "i have". So...it would make more sense to put tengo, right? c; **It seems that you are a girl. So, you should use feminine endings. "altA" and "tranquilA" and "cansadA" and "abrumadA" ***La adulta. Remember feminine, the adult is a girl ****TIENE, not "es de". You are saying that she is from forty-seven years! That doesn't make sense! You must say tiene. :) CORRECTED PARAGRAPHS: (you can copy it into your assignment) Hola! Me llamo Camila. Tengo quince años. Soy alta y tranquila. Me siento cansada. Me gusta nadar mucho. La adulta tiene cuarenta y siete años. Ella es timida y bonita, pero ella se siente abrumada. A ella le gusta el chocolate negro. Ella trabaja como niñera.
@esshotwired is an excellent Spanish helper! I know her personally - it's okay! c:
hmm... what do you need help with still?
Okay, so I'm assuming you ( @kewlgeek555 ) put * beside the things that are incorrect right? And @esshotwired We are still conjugating my paragraph.. Hola! Me llamo Camila. Soy quince anos. Soy alto y tranquilo. Me siento cansado. Me gusta nadar mucho. El adulto es de cuarenta y siete anos. Ella es timida y bonita, pero ella se siente abrumado. A ella le gusta el chocolate negro. Y trabaja como ninera.
Yes, and the same number of stars are under that two paragraphs have the corrections. And then I also put the corrected versions. Make sure to read my corrections so you can understand better. c:
Corrected Sentences: Hola! Me llamo Camila. Tengo quince años. Soy alta y tranquila. Me siento cansada. Me gusta nadar mucho. La adulta tiene cuarenta y siete años. Ella es timida y bonita, pero ella se siente abrumada. A ella le gusta el chocolate negro. Ella trabaja como niñera.
Ok so for the first few sentences, I see some problems. Since you are a girl, you have to make sure your adjectives end in -a. Also, the third sentence has the wrong verb, it should be tengo, not soy. Otherwise, you would be saying: I am 15 years. using tengo makes it: I have 15 years.
Yeah and nvm darry just gave it all to you :P
lol!! Yeah:) Thank you both so much!!!!!!! So you both agree with each others final answers right?
Yurp! ^.^
Yes, we do. ^-^ I think @esshotwired has a better, and shorter way of explaining things than me. (*^_^*)
I can make it long if you want me to... :3
I will give @kewlgeek555 the medal.. I'm gonna give both of you testimonials since you actually helped me understand instead of how other people just give the answers to you. And I think im already fanning both of you! :) btw @esshotwired direct me to one of your questions or answers with a link and I'll give you a medal there since I cant here :) THANKS AGAIN GUYS!!! :D
Oh haha ok and thanks :D
Oh @esshotwired your preposterous banters. (^_^) [i like it] @xCamilaCabellox Thanks so much. It was a pleasure working with you and I hope to work with you again soon. :} BTW: There is a Spanish section made for questions like these! http://openstudy.com/study#/groups/MIT%2021F%20Spanish%20I%20-%20IV%20%28OCW%29
:P yea ok. and yes putting your questions in the Spanish section will help yours get answered faster.
haha :) thanks! And I never saw a Spanish subject.. I asked in another question why there isn't a Spanish subject awhile ago on my other account, and people agreed with me so maybe they added it recently.. I don't know maybe not haha anyway. Thanks again, and seriously @esshotwired put a link ill give you a medal! Much rather give one to you then another person who will "con" me into giving them an undeserved one!
Thank you for the testimonial, I appreciate it. And "MUY" bueno español. c;
