Write the equation of the line that is parallel to the line y = -3x + 12 and passes through the point (-1, 6). y = one thirdx + 7 y = -3x + 3 y = one thirdx + 3 y = -3x + 7

OpenStudy (anonymous):

y - 6 = -3(x - - 1) y - 6 = -3(x + 1) y - 6 = -3x - 3 y - 6 + 6 = -3x - 3 + 6 y = -3x + 3

OpenStudy (anonymous):

y=-3x+3 because they need to be parallel, they must have the same slope but pass through different points on the y axis. so your slope must be -3 and they y int can be anything but 12. plug in -1as x, -1(-3) = 3+? = 6, so it muct be y int of 3
