Anyone who has read the poem "The Market Economy"?
Nope, Sorry I've never read it.
link?
what's your question?
The poem communicates the main idea by using: A. alliteration B. images and emotionally charged words C. incomplete sentences D. incomplete phrases
i will try to help the best i can, one moment.
OK.
i don't think its alliteration
Yes, I agree. Do you think it's b? The others don't make much sense either.
b would be saying the imagery and words are dramatic. does that sound right to you?
Words such as "crooked" and "polyvinyl" show images, and words such as "rotted with cancer" and "kidneys turn off" show emotion. I don't think that the choice means dramatic.
only in a sense, but i think we should go with B
I think so, too. Would you mind helping me with one more question?
sure
Okay...I'll type it in just a moment...
According to the poem, people pay for their decisions by: becoming ill forgetting who they are losing their house going into debt. Do you think it's A?
im not sure if becoming ill is what the poet is trying to express when we pay for our decisions, there might be something much deeper than that.
What do you think, and do you see any hints in the poem?
i think the pain and illness represents a strugle
So might that be b?
lets try to focus on b for a moment, the others don't seem right
The people might be forgetting about their health and the important parts of their lives by working in the city?
i think instead of forgetting about their health, they are forgetting who they are. Notice how in the poem, it a give and take. "Suppose some peddler offered you can have a color TV but your baby will be born with a crooked spine;" if you take the color tv, there is a consequence-your child will be born with a crooked spine.
I agree.
choice b then
Yep, thanks for all the help!
welcome! good luck
