How is the gerund phrase used in this sentence? We must give feeding the poor our full attention. A. subject B. direct object C. predicate nominative D. indirect object

OpenStudy (destinymasha):

i do know the gerund phrase is '' feeding the poor our full attention''

OpenStudy (destinymasha):

direct object - answers what or whom? indirect object - answers to what or to whom? predicate nominative - answers who are they? [Mary is the WINNER]

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@Destinymasha i agree

OpenStudy (destinymasha):

thanks @emok9893

Good explanation, but I think giving attention has an implied "TO", which would seem to make it an indirect object. For example: "give John the wrench" would have wrench as a direct object and John as indirect. Perhaps someone else will know for sure.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I think someone else has agreed with me.

OpenStudy (destinymasha):

actually i have:} Give our full attention TO WHAT? = FEEDING THE POOR [INDIRECT OBJECT]

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Very nicely done.
