I need help with using the future tense in Chinese

OpenStudy (anonymous):

The Chinese do not have a future tense, they use "yao" (want, will, am going to) with the verb. At least this was true of Mandarin, which I studied decades ago. Pasts were indicated by "le" which functions like our "ed."
