yes..dey do work in IT. if you do bioinformatics after biotech den. the work dat these people do include designing a software which would store all d dna database or maybe if u feed a dna sequence u get d protein coded by dat sequence etc etc....

I second @shrutipande9. Along with bioinformatics, you also do some python which is programming which gives them the background for software design as @shrutipande9 has mentioned. Check for the different prospectives online.
