A company pays its employees a fixed base salary and a commission based on sales. The scatter plot shows the total earning of an employee of the company (y) based on sales (x): *see chart attached* Which function best represents the data in the scatter plot? A. y = 0.1x + 10 B. y = 0.1x - 10 C. y = 0.1x + 1 D. y = 0.2x - 1
The key is identifying the y-intercept. All of the answers are in slope-intercept form. So the numbers on the end (+10 -10 +1 -1) indicate where the graph must cross the y-axis. Looking at your graph, where does it cross the y-axis?
its a
that is correct
It is in deed A, however a good way to eliminate some choices are look at the line. If it's going up we know it's positive so it has to be addition. However if the line is going down, we will be subtracting. Therefore you can eliminate B and C because the line is going up.. Hope that helped for the future!
