lim x->0 f(x)=1-cot(x) Is answer undef? I thought all trig functions where continuous?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

cot(0)= undef?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yes.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so the answer is undef not 0, correct?

hartnn (hartnn):

the limit does not exist because the value of cot x is different when x os just less than 0, and when x is just greater than 0

OpenStudy (anonymous):

because cot(0) is undef

hartnn (hartnn):

there's no answer, that limit does not exist

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok thank you both
