I have a geometry question. Please help me!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

This is the question.

OpenStudy (jdoe0001):

have you covered similarity of figures and using proportions for them yet?

OpenStudy (nikato):

Since the length from the parking lot to the beach is the altitude of the triangle, then it's the sqrt of 32x18

OpenStudy (anonymous):

24 @nikato 24 is the sqrt of 32*18

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@jdoe0001, I sort of know about the similarity of figures, and simple proportions. I'm no good when it's out of my zone.

OpenStudy (jdoe0001):

ok... one sec

OpenStudy (jdoe0001):

so notice the picture, what you really have is 3 SIMILAR TRIANGLES, as nikato pointed out, -> http://www.mathwarehouse.com/geometry/similar/triangles/geometric-mean.php

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Thanks, I'll look more into it. If I still can't figure it out, would you mind if I messaged or tagged you.

OpenStudy (jdoe0001):

tis ok

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Thanks I got it now. It only took 45 minutes, but I got it.
