am i right?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I thought about using the estimator, Q1 - 1.5 * IQR and the Q3 + 1.5 * IQR :l

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@sourwing

OpenStudy (anonymous):

huhm.. i'm not sure :D

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok, can you look at another? d;

OpenStudy (anonymous):

OpenStudy (anonymous):

A or D?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I suck at statistics so sorry :(

OpenStudy (anonymous):

do you know anyone that could help me?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

no, sorry

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@tkhunny

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok ty tho

OpenStudy (tkhunny):

Let's talk about outliers. College IQR 7.5 High School IQR 5 Usual allowance for outliers College IQR 7.5*1.5 = 11.25 High School IQR 5*1.5 = 7.5 Allowable Maximum for Q4 College:15 + 11.25 = 26.25 High School: 14.5 + 7.5 = 22 Allowable Maximum for Q0 College:7.5 - 11.25 = Negative? High School: 9.5 - 7.5 = 2 Looks to me like the High School data are MUCH better described with the IQR.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok! what about the second ( ty btw for taking the time for helping me)

OpenStudy (tkhunny):

IQR doesn't CAUSE anything! It is what it is.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Oh! so its A ? that does make sense because it just finds the median ( Q2 )

OpenStudy (tkhunny):

What do -tiles (Medians, Quartiles, Percentiles, etc) have to do with the Mean? Nothing, maybe?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I would assume, though I think it would be A, the other options don't make much sense

OpenStudy (tkhunny):

Personally, I like c, but I would reword it. "If we are interested in the mean, why in the name of reason are we playing with Quartiles?"

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Btw, i got Q1 = 80 and Q3 =92 for mid terms and, Q1 = and Q3 = 85

OpenStudy (tkhunny):

Find the quartiles and see!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I did lol, I found these Q1 and Q3, though it was an odd number :/ I think I might have mixed the number by a few D;
