Can someone please help me check my answer?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

question??

OpenStudy (whpalmer4):

\[\frac{13}{168} \approx 0.07738095238\]\[\frac{1}{14}\approx 0.07142857143\] So your answer is indeed a fraction between \(0.083\) and \(1/14\). There are somewhat more obvious answer possibilities, however: did you consider 8/10 or 4/5? :-)

OpenStudy (whpalmer4):

How did you find 13/168, out of curiosity?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

0.0833 = x 83.33333... = 1000x 833.3333... = 10000x 10000x - 1000x = 833.3333 - 83.33333 (10000 - 1000)x ≈ 750 9000x ≈ 750 x ≈ (750/9000) = (750/750)/(9000/750) = 1/12 So what lies between 0.083 ≈ 1/12 and 1/14?

OpenStudy (whpalmer4):

Well, \[\frac{1}{13} \approx 0.0769231\]so that also would work.
