The Enlightenment had promoted the idea that political and social arrangements could be engineered, and improved, by action. Ideas of liberty, equality, trade, provided the intellectual undermining's of the revolutions which was one of the causes of the French Revolution which in a return that brought to many of the Latin American revolutions that had sprung in the 1820s.
