How do you find the exact value of tan(165)?

OpenStudy (amistre64):

see if it decomposes into simpler terms

OpenStudy (amistre64):

since it is between 90 and 180, it will the negative of tan(180-165)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yeah I got tan(135+30)

OpenStudy (amistre64):

i was thinking 45-30

OpenStudy (anonymous):

but it keeps coming out funky because i'm not 100% sure of the tangent of 30

OpenStudy (amistre64):

:) i can never recall the tangent formula, so i have to rely on the sin and cos parts

OpenStudy (amistre64):

\[\frac{sin(a+b)}{cos(a+b)}\] \[\frac{sin(a)cos(b)+sin(b)cos(a)}{cos(a)cos(b)-sin(a)sin(b)}\] let a=45 and b=-30
