suppose two photons each with mometnum .50 Mev/C collided ande formed one single particle. What is max mass of particle?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Its a relativistic momentum problem. (p^2c^2)sub1 + ((mc^2)^2)sub1 + (p^2c^2)sub2 + ((mc^2)^2)sub2 = (p^2c^2)sub3 + ((mc^2)^2)sub3

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so the mass sub1 and sub2 will equal zero..

OpenStudy (anonymous):

and the mometnum will equal zero on sub 3 side to maximize the mass

OpenStudy (anonymous):

but do I think of both the mometnums on left side to be positivie even though they are heading towards each other.....velocities in oppositive directions?
