First, add 4+3
Then, add 8/9 + 4/9. Since the denominator is the same, just add the numerators. You will add 8+4
4+3 is 7, and 8+4 is 12. 12/9 is a mixed number, so you will simplify. 9 goes into 12 once with three left over so it becomes 1 and 1/3 Add this to 7, and you get 8 and 1/3
