x^2-25/20x-4x^2 reduced

OpenStudy (campbell_st):

start by factoring the numerator and denominator... the numerator is the difference of 2 squares the denominator, take out a common factor if -4x.... this will reverse the order and make it easier to see the common factor between the numerator and denominator.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I did, but I (x+5)(x-5) / 2x(10-2x) Is that the answer or does it still need to be reduced

OpenStudy (campbell_st):

ok... well in your the denominator, both terms are even... and so have a common factor of 2..., which means it can become 4x(5 - x) if you take a common factor of -1, it reverses the order within the brackets -4x(x - 5) now the common factor, that can be removed from the fraction, is more obvious

wow, feeling like an idiot here, thank you so much. :p

glad to help....
