please help

OpenStudy (mathmale):

Hi, Trolley! Why don't we try the elimination-by-addition/subtraction method for solving this system of linear equations? If you're willing to try that, please multiply the 1st equation by 2. You'll get 2(3x - 2y = 5), or 6x - 4y = 10. Now add this result to the 2nd equation: 6x - 4y = 10 2x + 4y = 14 ------------ This will eliminate the variable y, leaving you with an equation in x only. Care to try it?

OpenStudy (mathmale):

6x+2x = ? 10+14 = ? 6x - 4y = 10 2x + 4y = 14 ------------ ? ?

OpenStudy (mathmale):

8x=24 and so x=3. I won't bother to check your value for y, as it looks appropriate. Congrats. Happy to work with you. Unfortunately, once I finish up helping another student or two, I need to get off my computer. I welcome any opp to work with you, however.
