I need help... I am willing to learn how to do this... Not just looking for a quick answer When solving a radical equation, John and Tim came to two different conclusions. John found a solution, while Tim's solution did not work in the equation. Create and justify two situations: one situation where John is correct and a separate situation where Tim is correct.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I guess more than anything I just do not get what it is asking...

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I don't get what it's asking either.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Right.... it does not make sense to me

OpenStudy (anonymous):

These questions they give me can be so ridiculous

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I see.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Mhm lol... Thanks for at least looking at it though (:

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Is this an essay or a multiple choice question?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

It is an essay question

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Do you have an assigned book for the subject?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

No. I do online schooling so we do not have a book and the lessons we are given to learn from are not very informative.

OpenStudy (whpalmer4):

okay, sometimes when you solve an equation that has a radical sign in it, by squaring it, you end up introducing what is called an extraneous solution. An extraneous solution is not a mistake, but rather a solution that doesn't work in the original equation. There's a video here that might help you: https://www.khanacademy.org/math/algebra/exponent-equations/radical_equations/v/extraneous-solutions-to-radical-equations

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Thank you! (:

OpenStudy (anonymous):

you're doing homework now?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yes. lol I am behind... trying to finish up the first semester of my classes, so I work almost 24/7

OpenStudy (anonymous):

It is quite annoying really

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i feel bad for you though.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Haha it is okay... It is my fault that I am behind... if I would have kept up in the first place this would not be a problem lol

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I also need help with this.... If someone is willing to explain this as well... It is more of me needing to be pointed in the right direction that anything..... Given a polynomial function f(x), describe the effects on the y-intercept, regions where the graph is increasing and decreasing, and the end behavior when the following changes are made. Make sure to account for even and odd functions. When f(x) becomes f(x) − 1 When f(x) becomes −f(x) + 1

OpenStudy (anonymous):

WHAT THE HECK!!!!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

What? lol

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ridiculous question!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I know... most of them are... I hate essay questions they take too much time... I have been on the same practice test for hours.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

OpenStudy (anonymous):

A girl lol

OpenStudy (anonymous):

OpenStudy (anonymous):

oh my well.....i take hard classes.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I do not really take hard classes at all... this is just Algebra2.... but math is my worst subject.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I am also a Senior so I have mostly gotten the hard classes out of the way

OpenStudy (anonymous):

math sucks balls

OpenStudy (anonymous):

That is does.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

OpenStudy (whpalmer4):

OpenStudy (anonymous):

hahaha xp

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Some how I have managed to get very off topic... seen as though this has nothing to do with math.

OpenStudy (whpalmer4):

"seeing as how"
