English 8 Online
OpenStudy (anonymous):

Some nouns that end in –sis are made plural by changing the –sis to –ses. Why is this?

OpenStudy (a1234):

Are these your choices? A. They have Greek origins and therefor have irregular plural forms? B. They have Latin origins and therefor have irregular plural forms. C. They have Spanish origins and therefor have irregular plural forms. D. There are no words that change forms like that in English.

OpenStudy (a1234):

*therefore, those choices were copied and pasted.

OpenStudy (a1234):

Keep in mind that it is not D, because thesis changes to theses, and it is not C because most English words either have Greek or Latin roots.
