to find \(x\) solve \[2x+9+2x+1=90\]

OpenStudy (anonymous):

once you have \(x\) you will know all the angles

OpenStudy (anonymous):

No....don't do algebra.. Think! X has to be the biggest angle.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Now which is smaller....2x + 9 or 2x + 1 Obviously 2x + 1 has to be less than 2x + 9 so W is the smallest Y is in the middle

OpenStudy (anonymous):

In a right triangle...the 90 degree has to be the largest angle. Otherwise the angles will add up to more than 180

OpenStudy (anonymous):

x = 20 correct

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Is it not obvious that 2x + 9 will always be greater than 2x + 1???\ Why bother solving for x?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

then idk

OpenStudy (anonymous):

2x + 9 = (2x + 1) + 8 2x + 9 is always 8 more than whatever 2x+1 is

OpenStudy (anonymous):

-1/2
