if you mean 4 1/5 - 2 2/3, first you change them both into mixed fractions: 21/5 - 8/3 you change both denominators to 15: (3)21/5 - (5)8/3 = 63/15 - 40/15 and now you subtract: 63/15 - 40/15 = 23/15 last but not least you simplify: 23/15 = 1 8/15 final answer: 1 8/15
