Geology question, Stratigraphy specifically. The idea of the Principle of Superposition seems pretty obvious. Why do you think it's important in science to state the obvious in these principles and not to just expect scientists everywhere to "get the idea" that things on top of other things are put down in order of youngest (on top) to oldest (on bottom)?
