random231 (random231):

line parallel has the same slope and perpendicular has -(1/slope)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

same slope as what?

random231 (random231):

the given line ofcourse!

OpenStudy (mrnood):

you need to re-arrange the equation so it reads y= mx + c m is the slope of the given line the slope of a line perpendicular to it is -1/m the slope of a line parallel is the same (it is just the value of c that changes for a parallel line)
