the length of the fence is (4x+10) feey and the width is (2x)feet

OpenStudy (anonymous):

What exactly is the question?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

You are a construction engineer and you have won the bid to construct a rectangular fence around a rectangular yard. THE Length of the fence is (4x+10)feet, and the width is (2x)feet Draw the fence and show these measurements Find the area of the fence algebraically FIND the perimeter of the fence algebraically

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Okay so drawing the rectangle is easy. Basically all you need to do is draw a standard rectangle.... when it says show the measurements it wants you to place them on the rectangle... like so, |dw:1392152974006:dw|

OpenStudy (anonymous):

sorry the width part got cut off but iy just says (2x)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

it*

OpenStudy (anonymous):

So, do you know the formula for area?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Do you want help? Or what?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yessss I need HELP.!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Okay lol... Well then... What is the formula for area... tell me...

OpenStudy (anonymous):

How do I find the area.? I'm not understanding a lil bit 😔

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Okay lol the area is L x W

OpenStudy (anonymous):

So you will just simply multiply (2x)*(4x+1)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

To do this you will distribute the (2x)... so multiply (2x) by (4x) then (2x) by (1)... what do you get?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

9X

OpenStudy (anonymous):

well you would have 3x and 6x^2

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Is it. 16 ? Ughhh. I'm getting frustrated sorry math is isn't my best subject

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Hold on.... I think I just did this wrong... I get frustrated too.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@whpalmer4 can you please help him/her with this... I am confusing myself and them at the same time.

OpenStudy (whpalmer4):

Okay, I'm just going to start from the top rather than try to figure out what has been done so far. length = 4x+10 width = 2x you have a drawing already now the question is a bit weird — it asks to find the area of the fence? or is it the area of the fenced-in region? we can't find the area of the fence unless we know how tall it is, but we can easily find the area of the fenced-in region.

OpenStudy (whpalmer4):

@naee2014 anyone home?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yes@whpalmer4

OpenStudy (whpalmer4):

So, I asked you a question or two, what are the answers?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

It asked the area of the fence

OpenStudy (anonymous):

We have to find the area of the fenced in region

OpenStudy (whpalmer4):

Okay, find the area of the fenced-in region. It's a rectangle, right? Do you know the formula for the area of a rectangle?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yes it's a rectangle I'm not sure if the area I found is correct but I got 9x

OpenStudy (whpalmer4):

what's the formula for the area of a rectangle?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I meant x=5ft but we have to find the numerical area and perimeter of the fence

OpenStudy (anonymous):

It also says if it cost 6.00 per foot to do the job. Find the cost in terms of the perimeter

OpenStudy (whpalmer4):

Please, read my posts carefully. Answer the questions I ask.
