I found this. "The common connotation of dialect is pejorative. It is considered a regional or social 'deviation' from the 'standard' language. It is also looked down on by speakers with a vested interest in proper language." On Answers.com but I am not sure myself what the answer is. I think this is correct but Im not 100% so, sorry in advance.
