What is the volume of the composite figure? 

A three-dimensional composite figure consists of a rectangular prism and a rectangular base pyramid stacked on top of the prism. The prism has length of three yards, width of two yards, and height of four yards. The height of the pyramid is two yards.

Volume of the rectangular prism is just $$V = l*w*h$$Plug in the values you know: $$l = 3, w = 2, h = 4$$$$V_{prism} = 3*2*4 = 24 \text{ cubic yards}$$That already rules out one possible answer.

Volume of a rectangular pyramid is $$V = \frac{1}{3}Ah$$where $A$ is the area of the base, and $h$ is the height.  We know $h=2$ here.
