what you do here, as damara tried to explain, is FOIL (x+3) (x-3) F irst x*x=x^2 O utside x*-3=-3x I nside 3*x=3x L ast 3*-3=-9 Therefore, your final equation is x^2-9

You can also make use of the identity: (A+B)(A-B) = A^2 - B^2
