Which argument would have been used to justify increased government influence over American society during World War II? Government intervention is needed to guarantee that Americans will support the war. The American people expect strong government leadership during times of crisis. Capping the price of war materials is necessary to prevent runaway government debt. The American people are not swayed by propaganda and advertising.

The American people expect strong leadership during times of crisis and you see that through the presidencies. Several presidents failed to do that and the public really murdered them for that, throughout the history books they are referred to as being incapable of leading the country properly during wars or the end days of their presidencies.
