From my curiousity XD

1. How does OS detect "Medal Parties"? I have seen a lot of users having medals without helping the asker. I discovered this when I was bored, so I checked some profiles of some OS users and found out that they received medals WITHOUT DOING ANYTHING HELPFUL. 2. What's the use of other study groups if there's no someone who is willing to help? Don't you think it's better if OS will just combine some of the study groups? Like for example all subjects that are related to science should be combined, Language and culture with history, and many more. I'm suggesting that OS should the same way like the MATHEMATICS section. It will still show if it's algebra, calculus and etc. In this way, many people can see other topics and they may help if they knew anything about it.. 3. Also, users in OS that have higher positions should be assigned to watch some chat boxes because I have seen many users who are fighting, spamming and swearing. I know this one is already suggested but I don't think that anyone is working on it. 4. Lastly, I think it's better to have some kind of "notes" , where you can see some OS news or important links like applications to become an ambassador, OS blogs, OS tutorials or anything.

1.) This definitely does remain an issue…a medal party can usually be detected by the result of "mass tagging" or tagging a bunch of people in a post for no apparent reason. Sometimes, medal parties can occur on really really old congratulatory posts as well :P so it depends, but medal parties do not generally support the Code of Conduct. 2.) Study groups are useful so that people can organize their questions. Unfortunately, some people are unaware of how the study groups operate so they are not used. Anyhow, a majority of users are seeking math help. This would definitely be a good idea to put in the OS suggestion box, I think personally that when OS is opened, there should be a home page (right now, its a direct link to the math section). 3.) Heavier moderation has been suggested quite a bit..I don't know what other's think about it, but whenever I'm in chat and see suspicious activity, I try to stop it personally. I can speak for most of my colleagues, and I'm sure that training in the new ambassador program will address issues like these. 4.) A lot of that information is on the OS blog in general…OS also has a Facebook page, and a youtube channel…are you asking for one source that just integrates all of these features into one? Not sure how you would go about doing that ..

1) "Medal Parties" report them whenever you see one. Please note that - Spamming to get medals is against the CoC "received medals WITHOUT DOING ANYTHING HELPFUL." <---- that's in the grey zone. 2) That's a very useful suggestion. Put it in thomaster's suggestion box. I already suggested for a mechanism to tag people of a particular expertize. For e.g. there are about 6-7 physics related subjects, and checking each one of them periodically is too much of a chore. So, when someone post a question in a near-stagnated section, he can @<expertize> to get attention and OS will notify a suitable user. 3) Ambie program is being restructured, it is natural to expect better results ;) 4) I think there should be a "no-nonsense bulletin" where we can check for notices. It can then be linked to more elaborate blogs (having a personal touch).

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@Jamierox4ev3r for number 4, i'm talking about exactly what @lastdaywork said,"no-nonsense bulletin" XD . Also, I'm not sure where can i find the "OS suggestion box" , that's why I'm suggesting number 4. They can put it as a dropbox like when we are choosing subjects. or post it like a bulletin (replacing the advertisement's position) for number 1),I'm not sure who are the ones that give "free" medals, so i cannot be able to report them. If i'll report that user, it will be unfair to that user. :/ and for number 3) that's a really good news! looking forward to it (^_^)

http://openstudy.com/study#/updates/52e0836ee4b0942cc9de3920 ^ There is the link to Thomaster's suggestion box. Post your concerns there :) and ohh i get what you mean by a bulletin or something…that would be extremely helpful!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

oohh this one, i already put something in the suggestion box before! can i add more ? O.o

OpenStudy (e.mccormick):

You can also report this activity. There have been times when we delete posts by unhelpful people to kill their medals. Even entire questions have been deleted. I did one of those the other day because it was a nonsense question and the person wanted to argue about it and got two medals. Well, the question is now gone, as are the medals, so their attempt to game the system has gained them nothing.
