$42 + $28 = $70 (before tax)

$70 x 1.08 = $75.6 (after tax of 8%)

the prices are
42 --> for your sister
28 --> for yourself

(42+28)*(1.08) = $75.6
which tells us the 75.6 dollars will be the total cost
