OpenStudy (anonymous):

Find the area of a regular pentagon to thenearest tenth of a square centimeter if the apothem measures about 6.9 cm and each side measures 10 cm.

OpenStudy (shiraz14):

The pentagon may be resolved into 5 triangles with base = side of the pentagon & height = apothem of the pentagon. So we would have: Area of pentagon = (5 X 0.5 X 6.9 X 10) cm^2 = 172.5cm^2.
