If a ball is thrown into the air with a velocity of 40ft/s, its height(in ft) after t seconds is given by y=40t-16t^2. Find the velocity when t=2.

Do you understand derivatives?
In this case, the velocity is the derivative of the height.
So they are just asking you to find \(\frac{dy}{dt} (2)\).
