Okay, first things first — the word is "principal" when referring to a sum of money :-) I agree with your answer choices.

Problem 1 has two obviously wrong answers, a correct answer, and an answer that you would get if you did simple interest instead of compounding. Problem 2 has an obviously wrong answer as well. @dumbcow there's another post where the problem says the guy invests $2000 at 95% interest compounded annually for 10 years or something like that — must be investing with Bernie "Made-off" Madoff :-)
