An introvert is either; A) more likely to work in sales B) more likely to work in a library
b?
Estimate some numbers to work with, how many people in some country work in sales ? how many work in a library? what percentage of people work in sales that are introverts ? what percentage of people that work in a library are introverts ?
i recon; there is at least 1000 times as many people in sales jobs as librarian jobs only a few percent of people in sales would be introverts maybe about 80 percent of librarians would be introverts
that makes about 20 introverts in sales compared to about 0.8 introverts in a library
- does anyone else want to estimate some numbers?
Wow, how did you think of this?
i can't remember where, but i read it somewhere, counter intuitive eh, do you think my numbers are ok?
Is this question from, 'Intro to mathematical thinking!' ?
Hmm - I'm not a reliable source for this. But it was an interesting read.
Or is it from, 'Intro to Probability' ? :P
that is probably right @AkashdeepDeb 'Intro to mathematical thinking'- through coursera i took that subject a couple of years ago
Hey, I was in that course too! Left it midway. Was that by Stanford?
I am taking it now! ^^ Yeah, it is by Stanford, it is cool! Not that interesting, but it may be helpful as Keith Devlin had said. :D
Seriously, @UnkleRhaukus , how do you make those numerical assumptions? O.O Is there any specific way to do that?
um, they are very rough guesses , i know that there aren't heaps of libraries but there are lots of sales jobs , (in the cities i know) , there are probably more introverts in sales than a few percentage, if you have some actually data, or different guesses try that, but i am still sure there will be more introverts in sales than introverts in libraries
