i just download the course what do i have to do to get started

Hi, i think you should start by installing python an IDLE, and try to understand what the script does. Then try to recreate the same problem or think about some other problem to solve. Use the lectures and make notes of the concepts the teacher is talking about.

OpenStudy (e.mccormick):

It really depends on how familiar you are with programming. The 6.00 classes were designed for people that had played with Python a bit or were good at independent study or were co-enrolled in a shorter, intro to Python class. If you are an absolute beginner: The first 10 videos here to get the super basics out of the way: http://thenewboston.org/list.php?cat=36 They are short videos, so no big deal. Use this as a reference book: http://www.tutorialspoint.com/python/index.htm It has good examples of the basics. Then work through the MIT materials and videos at your pace. Ask questions here of anything you do not understand.

Thanks, e.mccormick! Those tutorial videos are awesome. Since this is my first open courseware course or even iTunes U course for that matter, I din't realize there were materials that came along with the lecture at first. So I watched Lecture 2 already confused. Now I gotta go back and do the problem set and hopefully I will feel a little less confused. But I'm definitely checking out a few more of these videos before I dive back into 6.00

OpenStudy (e.mccormick):

Yes, using some outside sources to fill in the gaps can help a lot.

install python 2.5.4 and watch the videos... you can solve the assignments
