how can the effect of geomagnetic storm reduced ?

Since the geomagnetic storm emanates from the Sun and is caused by the interaction of the solar wind shock wave and the Earth's magnetic field it is rather difficult to stop. This causes high induced voltages in conductors which might be part of electrical equipment. So switching of the apparatus, removing it from the mains supply and putting it into a grounded metal container will help.
