Find the area of the irregular shape. Round to the nearest tenth. Please, check my answer! (picture of irregular shape below) Answer choices: 1. 90.2 cm^2 2. 241 cm^2 3. 65.1 cm^2 4. 72.3 cm^2 MY ANSWER: 3. 65.1 cm^2. Am I right?
there's an unshaded area underneath the rectangle
I know that...it is supposed to be a full rectangle...the teacher messed it up...
well here's how you will break it down get the area of the rectangle A = base*height then with the dome looking shape, that's essentially a semi-circle use the formula for the area of a circle A = pi *r^2 but use the base length of the rectangle as your radius and since it is half a circle, you would do A = (pi * r^2)/2
I did that...so i guess I am right...
once you've accomplished both task, add the areas total area = area of rectangle + area of semi-circle
