Point P is located at (−2, 7) and point R is located at (1, 0). Find the y value for the point Q that is located 2/3 the distance from point P to point R.

please try and explain if you can.

OpenStudy (whpalmer4):

Okay, if you want to go 2/3 of the way along a line between point A and B, with point A being the one on the left, calculate 2/3 of the difference of the x value of B - x value of A. Add that quantity to the x value of A. That's your x value for the point you are trying to find. Repeat the process with the y values.
